Earth Urn

This project was inspired by urns from the 1800's. We were challenged to take a historical piece and make it contemporary in some way. None of the urns that I saw from the time period made use of a spherical form, so I decided to implement it in mine. I made this piece to be a commentary on our responsibility to maintain the planet we live on. We need to take care of our Earth, because if we're not careful we may just watch the world burn.
Mushroom Bird Bath

The goal of this project was to recreate something found in nature. I was inspired by the form of a chanterelle mushroom, then inverted the outside lip of the cap to create a bird bath.
This is a ceramic recreation of a shoe that I own. The most challenging part was carving the intricate details and carefully painting them.
